8 Beauty Secrets To Get Flawless and Glowing Summer Skin

June 24, 2021

Everybody wants to look good at the beach, by the pool or at fun Summer events. I asked beauty expert and makeup artist Rita Fioritto how to get flawless and natural glowing skin in the Summer. Ready to take notes? Here are 8 valuable beauty secrets from Rita with products recommendations:

1. Up Your Water Intake

Get a water bottle and keep drinking plenty of water to flush out toxins from your body, while giving you healthier and hydrated skin.

Products recommendations: Self Cleaning 25 oz Water Bottle LARQ, Giotto Large 1 Gallon/128oz Motivational Water Bottle with Time Marker & Straw.

2. Exfoliate

For cleaner smoother skin and to better absorb hydration, Rita recommends gentle exfoliation twice a week to remove dead skin cells and leave your skin looking radiant. Do it in the morning after your cleanser and before toning your skin.

Products recommendations: Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Pore Exfoliating Treatment, Gentle Facial Buffing Cream With Botanical Extracts. TIP: Makeup will last longer on exfoliated skin.

4. Tone Your Skin

Toning the skin is important and a must during the summer months to soothe and give a temporally tighter sensation to the skin. A good toner aids and helps the skin regaining moisture, besides removing oil and leftover makeup. Most importantly, it minimizes the appearance of pores.

5. Wear a Serum

Serums are important to tackle so many skin concerns. It’s an extra step in your skin care routine that improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Some face serums contain nutrients that may help your skin in different things such as hydrating, brightening and preventing damage from ultraviolet (UV) light and pollution, just to name a few of the benefits.

Products recommendations: Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum, Estée LauderEstee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex Serum, Vichy LiftActiv Vitamin C Brightening Skin Corrector, La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C Face Serum, Supergoop!Daily Dose Vitamin C + SPF 40 Sunscreen Serum PA+++.

6. Eye Cream

The skin around your eyes is different from the rest of your face. It’s thinner, and the first area to show signs of aging. Eye creams are important to hydrate the eye area, to treat or prevent fine lines and puffiness. They make the eye area firmer and supple.

Products Recommendations: OriginsEye Doctor™ Moisture Care For Skin Around Eyes, Hada Labo Tokyo Age Correcting Eye Cream, A.G.E. Eye Complex for Dark Circles | Eye Cream | SkinCeuticals, Drunk Elephant C-Tango™ Vitamin C Eye Cream, Dr. Barbara SturmEye Cream, Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Firming Eye Gel-Cream, First Aid BeautyFAB Skin Lab Retinol Eye Cream with Triple Hyaluronic Acid, Supergoop! Work From Home Tricks and Tips

March 23, 2020

By Luci Fioritto

Scary times, I know! Lots of adjustments, and uncertainties, phew! How was your 1st week working from home? If you are straggling or if you feel your routine needs some adds-on to reach a balance, this post will help you.

I remember when I started working from home in 2012, it was not easy. At the time I had no children, and I enjoyed getting ready in the morning, seeing people every day and be in a routine I knew for a long long time, which was going to the office. Sometimes It takes a minute to get used to a WFH (Work From Home) routine, but once you get into the rhythm, trust me, it’s not bad. I ended up going back to the office when I changed jobs, but worked partially remote for a couple of years after, before taking the decision to working for myself and from home full time as a freelancer when I had my second child. So, I considere myself very adaptable and that’s the attitude you need right now: Adapt to stay sane!

If you are new to the WFH thing. Here’s the trick: CREATE A ROUTINE.

  • Wake up at the same time you would if you were going to the office.
  • Use the time you would commute to work and squeeze in a work out – even if 15 minutes it’s all you have, move your body – it will make a big difference on your day and mood.
  • Make your bed – it gives you a sense of accomplishing something
  • Take a shower
  • Dress up, even to a casual look but take off your pijamas or what ever you slept in
  • Brush your hair, brush your teeth and put on deodorant – keep your hygiene, please!
  • For the ladies, if you like makeup, put some on. Even if just a BB cream, blush and mascara. Again, it makes a difference.
  • Have breakfast
  • Try to work in separate rooms if you have a significant other or flat mate also working from home, if possible. Getting some space apart is important.
  • Make a to do list and stick to it
  • Make coffee
  • Get some fresh air
  • Stop for lunch at the same time you would at the office
  • Make more coffee
  • Stretch
  • If it makes you productive and if it’s possible, work outside from your porch
  • Stop working at the time you would while at the office or when you are finished
  • Put your computer and work away for life work balance.

Cheers!

Detroit Christmas Lights

December 5, 2019

By Luci

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… Everywhere you go… – I love this song.

Christmas lights in downtown Detroit keep getting better year after year. We love watching Holidays lights with the girls, it is one of our traditions this time of the year. Last weekend we finally had a chance to check it out, closing our long Thanksgiving holiday weekend perfectly.

Campus Martius Christmas Tree

It was cloudy and it started raining unexpectedly on our way to the city, which it made us almost to change our plans, but since we’re halfway through and so in need of some fresh air, we decided to give it a try. We were also hungry, so we stopped at a place to get a bite, with the hopes the rain would stop. Best decision we made – the rain stopped, we had our bellies full and it wasn’t too cold. The streets were wet, but it wasn’t bad, it actually made it extra fun for the girls with all the puddles.

Cadillac Square Christmas Market

Campus Maritus wasn’t crowded, so we stayed around that area. We had a chance to really look around and see the amazing job the city and sponsors did this year.

So many adorable spots and interactive installations with the cutest lights and backgrounds to take Holidays pictures in Detroit. Actually I think I’m starting a series of this to give you ideas to take yours. Here are my findings around Campus Martius. Check it out!

By Luci

Amaram!
